Check one form or booking page
Choose one completed action, try it on your live website, and check the result in your ad platform. This helps you find the next thing to fix before changing your ads or adding more tracking.
1. Find the exact page
Copy the page address from your ad settings. Open it and find the form or booking step a customer uses. If a booking ends on a separate confirmation page, note that address too. For an agency, start with one client and one page.
2. Check what your report counts
Choose a completed enquiry or a confirmed booking. A page visit or a click on a button is a different action. Find the matching action in your ad account and check what makes it count as complete.
3. Send one test from your phone
Use the live page as a customer would. Complete the form or booking and check that it reaches the business. Label it as a test so nobody mistakes it for a new customer. If it does not arrive, fix the form or booking process first.
4. Check the ad platform separately
Use Meta Events Manager, Google Tag Assistant, or TikTok Events Manager to test the same action. Follow your platform’s test instructions below and check the correct account and event. An enquiry in your inbox confirms the form worked; it does not confirm the tracking worked.
5. Make sure one action counts once
Your platform may receive the same action in more than one way. Check that it treats those records as one completed action. If the same enquiry is counted twice, ask whoever manages your tracking to check for overlapping setups before adding another script.
Which checks can you confirm?
For each item, note Yes, No, or Not sure. Start with the first answer you cannot confirm.
01I know the exact page my ads send people to.
02I know which completed action my report counts.
03My test enquiry or booking reached the business.
04I checked that the ad platform received the test action.
05I checked that one completed action was not counted twice.
Choose your next step
- The enquiry did not arrive: check the form or booking process first.
- It arrived, but the platform did not receive it: check the tracking setup next.
- It was counted twice: check the existing setup before adding anything.
- Everything looks right: keep the page address and your test notes. Check again after a change.
Write down the next thing to check and who will do it.
Common questions about this setup
Does this checklist scan my website?+
No. These are checks you carry out yourself. The page does not connect to your website or ad account, give a tracking score, or confirm delivery for you.
Should my inbox and ad reports show the same total?+
Not always. Some enquiries come from other places, and platforms use their own rules for giving ads credit. A test appearing confirms that action was received; it does not prove every future lead will be credited correctly.
What does the $5 Simple CAPI setup cover?+
One script covers one platform, one action, and one exact form or booking confirmation page. Another platform, action, page, or form needs another script. There is no subscription or account to create. Tax may apply at checkout.
